Wallace Activated As NASCAR Gives Hmiel The Boot
June 3rd: Although grimly professional on the outside, Kenny Wallace is all smiles on the inside. He's off the bench.
Yesterday following Busch Series practice, NASCAR officials escorted FBG Racing driver Shane Hmiel from the garage area, which quickly led to his suspension from the sport. Having failed a random drug test mandated by NASCAR, Hmiel is now suspended indefinitely for the second time in as many years.
Per G2 Auto Racing Rules, FBG Racing alternate Kenny Wallace has now been activated to full-time driver for the team, and will remain so until Hmiel is reinstated by NASCAR or is released from FBG Racing at the next G2 Trade Session. FBG Racing CEO Frank Gordon refused to comment on Hmiel's suspension, and would only state "I have the utmost confidence in Kenny."
